BRACO STABLES
tell the story of Jamaica

A truly fun and enjoyable experience for the whole family! Here at Braco Stables, we offer horseback riding – a tour through the scenic countryside, onto the shore and swimming bareback with the horses on a beautiful, private beach. Come visit and experience the beautiful rural Jamaican landscape – frolic and revel in the warm Caribbean Sea.

Braco Stables is situated in the parish of Trelawny, Jamaica – approximately 32 miles east from Montego Bay and approximately 25 miles west from Ocho Rios. The parish of Trelawny is steeped in history – and the Braco Estate is no exception as it dates back to the mid 18th Century.  The property by the 18th Century grew sugar cane and made sugar in its own factory.  Later the estate changed to cattle farming, with pimento and lime orchards.  Today the horses have the privilege of grazing in the paddocks and enjoying the wide-open spaces.  The Braco House was built in the mid 1700’s – the overseer's journal that was found in the cellars, dates back to 1755. The overseer’s house became known as the Braco Great House because of its strategic position and majestic appearance. The Braco Great House has been restored and great attention paid to the details so that the original appearance of the house has been maintained and is now a private residence.

The Horseback Estate Tour

The horseback tour is an enjoyable two-hour ride with our accomplished and trained guides – who will select a horse to suit your riding ability. The ride commences from the Stables and you are taken through the scenic countryside, passing the tranquil farmlands of the locals living close by. The friendly and humorous guides will tell you about the people and events of the area you ride through - telling the story of Jamaica. There is even an old abandoned airstrip, which was built during the 2nd World War and was later used for smuggling of marijuana “ganja”. There is the wreckage of an over loaded aircraft close by.

The trail ride meanders down to the north coast shoreline and takes you to a private and beautiful beach area.

Here guests are given the opportunity to swim bareback and frolic with the horses in the magnificent Caribbean Sea.

The crystal clear sea and white sands allow for great swimming and picture taking opportunities.

The ride concludes by the gardens brimming with pimento trees, bougainvillea and fishtail palms. Lounge with a cool drink from the gazebo and spy on the hummingbirds gossiping with the orchids.

Come sample our hospitality and the beauty of Trelawny, Jamaica!!

Rides available at 10.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m.
